Because we are performing mostly folk songs on 2/5, we are able to provide you with the lyrics. Folk songs are public domain, because their composer is unknown.
Here you go! Please take a moment to practice with your student, if they are in second grade. What a fun night it was last night! It was great to perform our American songs for a packed house yesterday in the cafeteria. The students worked hard, and we thank you for your support and help with the evening. Today's classes addressed Georgia General Music Performance Standard 7, with some writing and higher order thinking skills. The standard 3.GM7a says, "Evaluate performances of themselves and others." We discussed the parts of a good paragraph, then viewed parts of our performance briefly. During our viewing we addressed what we excelled at in our show, and what could be improved. Following the viewing, the students wrote a paragraph personal reflection on the experience. Good morning! If you have a student in third grade, their PTA performance is tonight at 7pm. Please have them report to their homeroom teacher's room, beginning at 6:30 pm, dressed in blue jeans, and a red, white, or blue top. They should be wearing comfortable shoes.
We are in need of a few extra pairs of hands to change back the cafeteria to it's normal state for grandparent's tea tomorrow, so if you can stay and help afterwards for a few minutes, please do. Also- I'm looking for pictures!!!! If you get any great shots of the performance tonight, please send them to me at [email protected]. Have a great week! Fourth grade students have been learning about Tchaikovsky and "The Nutcracker," this week. These students incorporated higher level thinking into their lesson by answering the essential question " What is form? How does the rondo form of "The Nutcracker March," compare to the rondo form of a well written essay?" Students then analyzed a short biographical essay about Tchaikovsky, putting the parts together in the correct order. Once they read the introduction, body, and conclusion, they completed a short worksheet about the composer. Fourth grade students now have knowledge about what Romantic period composers were like!
Third graders will be performing this coming Monday, the 19th, at 7PM in the cafeteria. Please have your students here, beginning at 6:30, and reporting to their homeroom teacher's classroom. ALL students are to wear jeans on bottom, and red, white, or blue on top.
ORFF CLUB MEMBERS: Orff Club will be performing the morning ot 12/19, the last day before winter break, at a to be determined location in RNE, serenading our students as they come in during the last morning of school. Please wear jeans and your Orff shirt, and report to Ms. Weingart's room between 7am and 7:10am. We will enjoy some refreshments afterward! |
