Box 957238, Duluth, GA 30095 Fax in your completed order to 770-497-5101 Have a great holiday break Students in second grade have spend this week working with one of the elements of Georgia Music Standard 7, which says, "Evaluating music and music performances." Students reviewed and discussed our class rubric, which has categories from one to five and what a song would contain if it were in each of the categories. Students then made a recorded performance of each of our songs that we have been working on for our 2/5 show. Afterwards, students then listened to the performance, and rated themselves according to the rubric. We discussed why we rated each song that particular way. Here is Ms. Wagner's class in action! Because we are performing mostly folk songs on 2/5, we are able to provide you
with the lyrics. Folk songs are public domain, because their composer is unknown. Here you go! Please take a moment to practice with your student, if they are in second grade. 1- In the repeating section of "The Nutcracker" how do you know what notes to play? 2- How can you tell the difference between a quarter note and 2 eighth notes? 3- What is a rondo form piece? How do you figure out the form of a piece of music? 4- How did you know the piece from today was minor? What effect does minor writing have on your enjoyment of a piece? 5- How does the organization of a piece contribute to your enjoyment of it? How was "The Nutcracker March" organized? Crabapple Middle School music students are coming to perform for our 5th graders next Friday. I have encouraged our 5th graders to allow themselves to give this performance a lot of weight regarding the decision on what "Connections" class to sign up for next year. If you have a 5th grade student, please ask them how the performance went, and how it affected the connections class they have in mind for next year. Please contact me if I can be of any help in making this decision.
Please turn in your RSVP forms for the 2/5 performance ASAP! Thank you!
