This week:
Kindergarten (was introduced to) and first grade (reviewed and sang) a song called "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" using their sol and mi pitches. First grade accompanied themselves on Orff instruments.
Second Grade played "Pizza, Pizza, Daddy-O" and diagrammed their sol, mi, and la pitches on the musical staff using pegs.
Third grade reviewed their songs for their performance, focusing on using proper head voice to help them achieve their best singing product possible.
Fourth grade learned how written musical notation was invented. Ask your fourth grader to tell you about Guido of Arezzo! Studentes also reviewed "Davy, Davy Dumpling" experiencing how those solfege syllables used in the song are related to the musical staff.
Fifth grade also learned how musical notation was invented. They used "Davy, Davy Dumpling" to help them review BOTH their solfege AND their note letter names on the musical staff.
