It is hard to believe that today has already gone by so quickly, with all the preparation your teachers have done during the last few weeks to get ready for this first day of school. It was a very quick, and very fun day.
I became acquainted with Ms. Wachtel, Ms. Byrum, Ms. Grizzle, Ms. Linn, and Ms. Bird's classes today. Kindergarten, and first grade played the wolf game, and practiced our steady beat, which is an integral part of the life of a musician. Second grade played the wolf game, and turned our names upside down for Jack Mack. Third Grade used their steady beat skills to help them with a movement game, Bow Wow Wow. Ask your third grader to teach you Jack Mack! Ms. Grizzle's fourth grade class played a name game, and
began a piece that will review rhythm on the Orff instruments. Fifth grade began a drum piece, and learned the layout of the room with a music scavenger hunt.
Essential questions for week 1 of Music:
K and 1st:
How can you show steady beat? Why is it important in music?
2nd and 3rd:
What is steady beat? How does it help us in music?
4th grade:
What is steady beat? How have we showed it today in music?
5th grade:
What kinds of things will we learn about in music this year?
